Scuba Diving – Open Water

After spending a day doing my theory course and then two days in the pool, the final weekend was this week.

This we see me spending two days going to Wrasybury and diving in the lake.

Had a great two days doing the skills required and doing four open water dives, on day one we had 3 metre visiability and on day two it had dropped to 1 metre.

After completing all this my instructor Andy informed me I had passed my open water diving, now cant wait for 2 weeks time when I head off to Stoney Cove near Leciester to attempt to pass my advanced open water diving.

Scuba Diving – Open Water Day 1

So today was my first time in the water for day 1 of my open water diving course. The course was held at Freedom Leisure in Crowborough. After meeting the other people on the course and the instructors we had a briefing about the day and the dives and the swimming test that was required for day 1. We then kitted up and headed to the pool for our first dive.

What a tremendous feeling it is being underwater and being able to breathe. We did all the required elements of the dive, which were things like clearing your mask, swapping to another air supply and some other technical elements.

The day finished with the 200 metre swimming test and 10 minute float.

Thoroughly enjoyed my first day and cant wait for tomorrow and even more next weekend when I do my first dive in the lake.
