Horse Riding – Seville Day 3

Started the morning late was meeting Luis at 8:00 am where he then takes me to breakfast. We have a couple of coffees and some fruit juice and then a couple of toasted sandwiches in a little cafe connected to the side of a petrol station, by the number of people here clearly a local favourite.

Main purpose of the day is to learn by the end of the day how to get on and off the horse, without requiring the use of steps.

I started the day by first doing some lunging (http://www.wikihow.com/Lunge-a-Horse) this really involved trying to teach the horse how to go from walking to trot to canter. After doing this for a while it was then my turn to get on the horse.

Luis started me off slowly then got me trotting again which was still quite unnerving and painful, really need to learn to raise and fall with the horse. After several attempts managed I at last managed to get it better finally going around using no hands.

This afternoon went for a nice ride in the country for a couple of hours, did a little trotting, and going up and down some hills.

Horse Riding – Seville Day 2

Had an amazing day working hard all afternoon. Luis got me trotting on a horse which was a very uncomfortable experience to start with but did get a little better. Finished the day at about 11:30 so tired. Luis invited me to his house where his lovely mother had cooked us some dinner I was so thankful.

When I was first looking to book this trip I had some reservations and worries about where I was going and what I was trying to do. How wrong was I, it truly is an amazing experience working with Luis and the horses from dawn till dusk.

Horse Riding – Seville Day 1

Arrival

Well I have thoroughly enjoyed my first day in Seville more precisely Frontera la Moron. Luis is brilliant, a real pleasure to learn from. Luis started off by explaining to me horsemanship skills, this involved showing me how to walk the horse, prepare the horse ready to be ridden, brushing the horse, brushing the horses mane and tail, checking the horses shoes and putting on the bridle and saddle.
